Start the new year with a scenic run or walk in this unique event. You can choose to participate on New Year's Eve or on New Year's Day or BOTH! - SEE NEW COURSES for THIS YEAR

DATES: Tuesday, December 31, 2024 & Wednesday, January 1, 2025

DISTANCES: NYE 10K & 5K, NYD 10K & 5K

START TIMES: Staggered individually based on pace per mile

December 31, 2024 (New Year's Eve): 11:50pm - 10K & 5K Run/Walk Start
January 1, 2025 (New Year's Day): 10:00am - 10K & 5K Run/Walk Start

LOCATION: 1036 Valley River Way) - Eugene, Oregon - ELMERS RESTAURANT

NOTE: Valley River Inn is closed for construction this year. We'll return to having that venue for inside access in the future. Packet Pick-up will be on each race day ONLY, starting at 10:30PM on NYE and 8:30AM on NYD, in the tent next to Elmers.

DIRECTIONS: In Eugene, take the Delta Highway to the Valley River Center exit. Turn left at the first stoplight after the exit (Valley River Way) and proceed south 1/2 mile to the Cul de Sac adjacent to Valley River Inn, next to Elmers.

First Run - Event Challenge

Participants completing both events (NYE + NYD) will be eligible for extra awards, based upon the cumulative time from each event. These awards will ideally be awarded on race day after results are computed.

There are three combinations of event doubles:

1) Run both 5K events (10K total)

2) Run one 5K event and one 10K event (15K total)

3) Run both 10K events (20K total)

For the night race: At packet pickup, please take a glow-stick bracelet or necklace to wear during the race. This will help with safety and tracking competition.

Course Map

This event features a 10K (6.2 mile) and 5K (3.1 mile) run or walk. Common Start/Finish for both NYE/NYD is on the Bike Path directly behind Valley River Inn - see revised 10K/5K maps. Both distances will have a short loop over the Greenway Bike Bridge and around the Soccer field, prior to crossing back over the bridge en route to the Finish line. NEW FOR THIS YEAR

Course Description

Both courses are very similar to year's past, with two out and back sections for the 10K and one for the 5K. Both distances take runners over the Delta Hwy bike bridge first. The 10K ONLY then goes out o the Owosso Bike Bridge past Marist High School. Both have Water stations accessible on the courses. See new course maps and take note of the Greenway bridge crossing into Maurie Jacobs Park for BOTH distances, prior to returning to the finish line. Courses will be well marked and marshaled.

Awards

The event will be chip timed, utilizing a BIB Chip Start & Finish. Awards for this event will be based on Chip Time. Special themed prizes to be awarded for Male & Female 5K & 10K Champions for NYE & NYD races, respectively. Medals to be awarded to top three in each age division, with all participants eligible for random prizes. Participants completing both events will be eligible for extra awards, based upon the cumulative time from each event.

Entry Fees

$35 for Adults 18-59. $30 for youth 17 & under and Adults 60+. $60 or $50 to run both, respectively. Long Sleeve Tech shirts available for an additional $18. Early shirt cut-off is 12/19.

Or, register on Race Day on NYE starting at 10:30PM or on NYD at 8:30AM.

Online registration is open until 12PM on 12/31/23 for the New Year's Eve race or "Both" Option. Link open until 10PM on New Year's Eve for the New Year's Day race.
